A Year In Review
Two thousand and seven has been a busy year, for us, at AHFM.  We have seen a tremendous increase in families seeking assistance.  Our requests for utility, rental and deposit assistance has more than tripled.
However, through the commitment of the following entities, we were able to assist approximately 10% of the total families that sought assistance.  All families assisted had incomes below the 25% area median income and included:

Office Space Needed!
Adequate Housing for Missourians has been blessed through the donation of office space from Neighbors Assisting Neighbors and Valley Industries.  However, due to Valley Industries' business growth, they will be expanding their operations and will be in need of the space we use currently.
Therefore, we are in need of new office space.  Based upon the fact that we are a non-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, we would like to offer a company a tax deduction in lieu of donated office space in St. Louis County.  If you would like to take advantage of this mutually beneficial opportunity, please contact Gloria at  314-551-0800
95% of the families we assisted  had annual incomes 25% below the area median income (AMI)
Through the administration of our Housing Assistance Program we have been able to bring stabilization to approximately 283 children.
35% of the individuals weassisted were elderly and/or disabled.
Did you Know?
100% of all our applicants that are not employed or do not attend school full time and/or are not disabled, must complete an average number of community service hours for their assistance.  Thus, providing a win/win opportunity for the applicant and their community.

Looking for a great gift idea for that person who has everything!
In the Christmas story, we remember Mary and Joseph being turned away from the Inn to have their baby in a manger, among the animals.  In the Old Testament, Issiah exhorts people to take the poor into your homes, a call that is repeated by Jews during Yom Kippur.
Today there are many families looking for safe and affordable housing.  Although they are able to afford the monthly rent, many are tuned away because they don't have the security deposit.  Adequate Housing for Missourians helps homeless families with security deposits and assists people with difficulty in maintaining their housing.
In order to ensure that everyone has a place to call home, we
Stabilize families.  In the past year, we help stabilize 280+ children by assisting their parents to move into permanent housing.   Make homes more energy efficient.  We have provided home repairs to seniors and/or people with disabilities  and Individuals who have fallen victim to serious illness.   We have provided rental assistance when those individuals were confronted with medical emergencies.
By completing the information and emailing the below AHFM will send a card to your loved one.  We will also send you a tax deduction letter for your records.
